This Sunday marks the deadline to apply for Newham’s new Working Group, a key part of the council’s People Powered Places programme. The Working Group will bring together residents, council officers, and councillors to decide how local improvements and projects should be shaped.

This is about real decision-making power being handed to the people who live, work, and study here. If you care about your area and want to be involved in making positive change, this is your chance to step up. As a Working Group member, you’ll help set priorities, plan improvements, and directly influence how funding is spent across Newham’s communities.

What’s Happening and Why You Should Join

Newham’s People Powered Places programme is giving local people a genuine say in how money and resources are used to improve their neighbourhoods. By joining the Working Group, you’ll be part of a team that identifies the biggest needs in your area, shapes future projects, and ensures that community voices are heard at every stage.

Who Can Join?

Anyone aged 16 or over who lives, works, or studies in Newham is encouraged to apply. The Working Group is open to people from all backgrounds and experiences, no previous experience with community groups is needed.
