Bin Room Security Issues – An Update

For over a year, we’ve been asking Peabody to fix the broken mag locks and doors on our bin rooms. Without proper security, these spaces are repeatedly broken into, creating serious safety risks.
Just yesterday, a bin room was accessed after two discarded sofas were left inside. Homeless individuals took shelter there, leaving behind heroin needles and medication. This posed a major hazard, as these items could have been accessed by anyone, including children. A resident had to step in to dispose of them safely.
What Can We Do?
While we continue to push Peabody for action, here’s how we can help keep the estate safer:
Report incidents – If you see illegal dumping or unsafe items, report them to Peabody and the resident group.
Dispose of waste correctly – Avoid leaving furniture in bin rooms. Peabody offers bulk waste collection services.
Be cautious – If you find needles or medication, don’t touch them. Report them for safe disposal.
Peabody Needs to Act
Residents shouldn’t have to manage these risks alone. Peabody must fix the bin room security to prevent further break-ins. Until then, these problems will continue.
We’ve attached photos showing the latest incident to highlight the urgency. If you have concerns, reach out to the resident group so we can keep pressing for a solution.
